Theo has over 20 years experience as a business owner and entrepreneur, and over 12 years of safety management related experience, working both locally and internationally as a consultant and trainer.  She also has10 years experience working as a Paramedic, witnessing firsthand the acute affects of workplace injuries and illness.

Theo is a Board Certified Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) and a Certified Safety and Health Consultant (Canadian Society of Safety Engineers). She is both a Lloyds Register and a COR certified auditor providing external audits for the Manitoba Heavy Construction Association.  Theo is a requested presenter to the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering, the Accident Prevention Association of Manitoba, and the Manitoba Construction Safety Association Professional Development Conferences. She is also an instructor for Red River College, Occupational Safety and Health Certificate Program.

Theo is a member of the Winnipeg Executives Association.  She has served on the executive of the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering since 2009 and sits on the AED Guidelines Committee of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.

Ellen Kotula

Ellen has over nine years of Health, Safety & Environmental experience in the Oil & Gas Industry and Building Construction. She has worked in a family owned business and a large international company and knows the challenges faced with Workplace Safety and Health compliance. Her knowledge and passion will help you whether you are just starting to implement your Safety Management System or you have had a system in place for years and are looking for ways to improve it.

Ellen has experience working in both Safety & and Environmental Management Systems. She is a Certified COR Auditor, Accident Investigator and Injury Prevention Coach. Her business & safety background will assist business owners in moving their safety management systems forward. She is a member of the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering (CSSE).

Ellen is a Board Certified Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP).


Jacquelyn Low

Safety Professional, CRSP

Jacquelyn began her career in Safety working for a Redi-mix company in Saskatchewan, and found a love and passion for the field. Her experience as a Safety Officer includes assisting companies to achieve COR Certification. She combines her upbeat personal style with her commitment to safety education and implementation to assist her clients to reduce their cost of risk and create a positive safety culture for their workers.


Jacquelyn is a graduate from the University of Manitoba with an Arts degree. She brings with her 8 years of Customer Service and sales experience. 

Jacquelyn received her formal training through the Red River Occupational Safety and Health Certificate Program and is a Board Certified Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP).


Grant Jones

Safety Professional, CET, CHSC, CSO, Certified COR Auditor,          

Grant is an extremely versatile occupational safety and health professional. He has extensive, broad-based experience in Workplace Safety and Health, Project Management, Operations, Quality Control and Environmental Management. He is a trained facilitator with a solid background in Total Quality Concepts. He is an accredited and practicing COR External Auditor, a Construction Safety Officer and a Certified Health and Safety Consultant (CHSC) accredited through the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering. (CSSE) Grant’s work experience includes:

  • Regulatory compliance audits as part of an Environmental Health and Safety team for Pittsburg Paint and Glass in Winnipeg, Pratt & Whitney in Calgary and Koch Minerals in Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
  • Developed Critical Task List and SWP’s for new Winnipeg water treatment plant.
  • Previous program advisor for OH&S and QMS, AECOM Manitoba.
  • Development of Inland Aggregates Canada Cross-Over Safety Audit system.
  • External auditor for the Manitoba Heavy Construction Association COR program.
  • External auditor for the City of Winnipeg Contractor Evaluation process.
  • Safety Management System audits for such organizations as Lafarge Canada and Manitoba Infrastructure and Transportation.

Grant is a member in good standing with Canadian Society of Safety Engineering and requested presenter each year at the annual Manitoba Construction Conference.


Gord Kowalchuk

Law Enforcement Professional, Consultant/Communications

Gord Kowalchuk, Law enforcement Professional, trainer, consultant - 1Life Workplace Safety and Health- providing workplace health, safety and first aid training in Winnipeg Manitoba

Gord served 27 years with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, working in Quebec for 14 years as an investigator and in VIP Security for Canadian and international heads of state.  He has worked in major case file management, forensic identification, collision analysis, evidentiary breath testing and standardized field sobriety testing.  Gord’s most recent duties were with Traffic Services Division with an emphasis on road safety. Gord brings over two and  a half decades of hands-on investigational experience encompassing  problem solving, investigations and prosecutions.  Gord has formal training in Workplace Safety and Health management and brings a high level of expertise to our programs in Incident Investigation, Traffic Control, Violence and Harassment and  Drug & Alcohol Training.   

Gord is a volunteer  and speaker with Mothers Against Drunk Driving and volunteers with Operation Red Nose. His passion for road safety has led him to create the website www.myTrafficTicketTips.com where he offers drivers strategies to arrive home safely and avoid costly DUI and traffic ticket charges.  

In addition to his consulting role, Gord heads up Communications and is fluent in English and French.


Sarah Den Ouden

Business Development Manager

Sarah is a graduate of the University of Winnipeg where she obtained her bachelor of Arts degree.  She is also a graduate of the Red River College, Commerce Industry Sales and Marketing program.

Sarah's role includes introducing 1 Life's products and services to even more Manitoba businesses as well as cooperating with our preferred service providers to ensure that all of our clients continue to experience the very best in service and workplace safety and health resources.

Sarah has an exceptional passion for working with people and creating solutions for individuals and their organizations.


LeRae Rigney

Director of Finance and Administration

LeRae has an extensive background in administration, financial management and as an award winning business consultant.

She has worked with both small and large businesses as well as various levels of government and not for profit organizations.

LeRae’s business acumen and familiarity with various stakeholders ensures objectives are collectively met.

 


Melanie Potter

Melanie brings over ten years of customer service experience along with over three years of sales experience.

As a result of a family member getting seriously injured in a workplace incident, she is passionate about getting people and their families home safe and healthy every day.


Melanie is a graduate from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, with Marketing and Management Certificates.

 


Erin Dietrich

Office Administrator

 

Erin is the first point of contact with our customers, whether on the phone or greeting them in person with her friendly smile.  Erin manages the front office and ensures all of the day to day operations run smoothly in addition to providing administrative support for everyone on the team.

Erin brings with her 13 years of administrative experience in many different areas, and her knowledge as well as her friendly attitude have made her a perfect addition to our team.


Vlieta Thomson

RN, OHN, LAIT, Consultant

Vlieta brings over 30 years experience as a diversified health care professional. She has worked as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Hospital setting specializing in Intensive care and Emergency care and in the recent years as an Occupational Health Nurse in a wide range of industries including:

 

  • drywall and corrugated paper manufacturing
  • fire truck assembly 
  • cast iron foundry
  • heavy duty trucking sales & service
  • telecommunications

 

Vlieta is a licensed Audiometric Technician with an in-depth knowledge of the Workplace Safety and Health Act and it's application in the workplace. Her care and compassion shine through to everyone she meets and we are blessed to have her as an integral part of our Respirator Fit Testing Program and team!
