

Our AED Program has been approved by the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
An automated external defibrillator (AED) is used to identify cardiac rhythms, and to deliver a shock to correct certain potentially fatal arrhythmias during a cardiac arrest. AEDs are safe, easy to use, and can be used effectively by non medical individuals. Trained responders have effectively used AEDs in many public settings, including casinos, airport terminals, and airplanes. Trained laypersons can use AEDs safely and effectively. An AED is an efficient and effective means of dramatically increasing survival following sudden cardiac arrest.
The College of Physicians and Surgeons has determined that organizations wishing to establish Defibrillator Programs in the community may do so without the requirement of a medical director. For the program to operate safety they must be established with:
